It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Blaise Richard Moore, a
beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He left us on February 4, 2025,
at the age of 88.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his children, Tara and Jon (Michelle); and his
adoring grandchildren, Olivia and Jack.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Genevieve (Panizzi) Moore; his
brother, Jack; and his son, Blaise Charles.
A WWII war orphan who was raised in Pittock, PA, Blaise was the embodiment of hard
work, grit, and resilience. He played collegiate football in Idaho and then briefly worked
in a steel mill before embarking on his unexpected–but fitting–career of hairdressing.
Over the years, he became an industrious business owner, building and managing
several salons and even a night club.
Beyond business, Blaise lived life with passion and adventure. He was an avid traveler,
always seeking new experiences. He loved the game of golf, playing countless rounds
with his brother and his two sons. Proud of his Italian heritage, he found great joy in
cooking for family and friends with fresh vegetables from his garden. He had a deep
affection for his dogs throughout the years, who were constant companions in his
journey. After retirement at the age of 81, he explored his passion for art, taking acrylic
painting classes at a local college. But above all, family was at the center of his world.
He found happiness in every gathering, every story shared, and every moment spent
together. His kindness, humor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who
had the privilege of knowing him.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00
p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Sharpsburg (820
Main St, Sharpsburg, PA 15215)
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Christ The King Parish in St. Joseph Church (342 Dorseyville Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15215).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital or Animal Friends in his honor.
Though he is no longer with us, Blaise’s love and legacy will live on in the hearts of
those he touched.
