Dorothy Kirkpatrick (Smarz)

Age 99, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2021. She was born June
22, 1921. She was married for 37 years to the late
James Kirkpatrick, at the home Jim had built, in
O'Hara Township. She is survived by her
stepdaughter Joan Lois Cotter, three stepsons
William Kirkpatrick, James Lee Kirkpatrick, and Jack
Kirkpatrick, many step grandsons and step
granddaughters, two grandnieces Sharon O'Neil and
Kathleen (O'Neil) Renk, one grandnephew Richard
O'Neil, close friend Jackie Kovel, and many other
dear friends she had touched during her life. Dorothy
was a waitress for many years at many restaurants
in Pittsburgh, the last being the Tea Room at the
Horne's department store until its closing. After
retiring, she volunteered for over 20 years, through
her 90's, with several other ladies who prepared
food and sandwiches at a church in Aspinwall and
then they delivered them to homeless people on the
streets of Pittsburgh. Her spirit and dedication to
helping others was an inspiration to those who
worked with or knew her. Private services were
previously held. Memorials should be sent to the
Food Bank of Pittsburgh. Arrangements entrusted to Worrell Funeral Home, Inc., Sharpsburg.
