Liz died peacefully around family & friends on Memorial Day. She fought a hard battle with ALS for 3 years. She was a fighter and said she would beat the diseases- but sadly enough it overtook her life. Liz loved her black Corvette, and had a big heart for anyone she met. She was a great sister, aunt, and friend. She grew close to many of her care workers that became her family and ours, Bobby Pago, and many more. Without their help and the help of friends we wouldn't have been able to keep her sassy attitude going so long. She will be and already is missed. To know Liz was to love her. She was the daughter of the late Frank & Ann Bennardo, and sister of Carol (the late Richard) Hillwig, Frances Bennardo, and Rose Mary Mitsch. Also survived by her nieces & nephews Kimberly (Pat) Goodman, Brian Hillwig, Matthew T. Mitsch, Nicholas Goodman, and Abby Goodman, and many other friends & relatives. She worked many years at her father's company, F&B Trucking. Liz loved Memorial Day, and she worked for the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Sharpsburg, PA. That was a big part of her life, and fitting that she passed away on Memorial Day- fly that flag high in Heaven, Liz! Not only was she a great sister, she was a friend. Knowing life without her will be unbearable and our hearts are broken. But Liz wants to celebrate her new life pain free- raise your glass and have one for Liz! THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC VISITATION. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ The King Parish in Madonna of Jerusalem Church on Friday at 10:30 am. Arrangements by Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Sharpsburg (412-782-2211).
