Ellen E. Tanski

Ellen E. Tanski, 76, of Valencia, formerly of Aspinwall, passed away on Monday,  April 3, 2023 at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital. She was born on July 6, 1946 to the late Harold and Melva Kleppner. Ellen was the loving wife of the late Thomas B. Tanski. She was the loving mother of Susan E. Tanski (Dale); sister of the late Robert Kleppner and Mary Jane Arture; and aunt to the late Craig Arture. In addition to her daughter, she is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lynn Kleppner; and nephews, Michael Arture (Shannon), Bobby Kleppner (Cheryl), and Brian Kleppner (Holly); as well as many great nieces and nephews. 

Ellen was a very kind, compassionate person who demonstrated great resilience throughout her life. She loved flowers, her family and friends, especially her beloved fur grandkids, Diesel and Maze. Ellen was an employee of the Mars Area School District, a place she considered not only a job, but a home. In her later years, she fondly recounted stories of her beloved students, teachers, and especially her beloved coaches.  

Friends will be received Monday, April 10 from 4 PM until the time of her funeral service at 7 PM in SLATER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES INC. SHARPSBURG, (412-782-2211), 820 Main Street, Sharpsburg, 15215. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League, the Vietnam Veterans of America, or to the Free Store in Braddock.
