Joseph E. Kolc

Of Sharpsburg, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, April 27, 1935 to Joseph Kolc and Stella Kolc, Joseph “Joe” Kolc, 89, was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a man of faith and loved by all who knew him.

Joe’s greatest accomplishment was the family he created with Elaine (Santalucia) Kolc, his beautiful wife of 68 years. He was preceeded by his father, mother, and sister Loretta “Sister Mary David” Kolc. He is survived by Elaine and their three children, Joseph “Joey,” Kathy (Tom), Lisa (Craig). He was also “Pappy” to five grandchildren; Justin, Megan (Garrett), Matthew (Kayla), Kristine, Katie (Zach) and great grandchild, Elise. He also leaves behind many beloved, fun-loving cousins.

Joe was a passionate and devoted fisherman and hunter, and coached in Special Olympics. Although he retired from a career with Port Authority, his heart was always with the Special Olympics where he impacted hundreds of lives. He was also a member of the school board for Sharpsburg and Fox Chapel school districts. Joe was a friend to everyone he met. He loved spending his time fishing with Joey and holidays with family.

Celebrate Joe’s life, the extraordinary husband, father, “Pappy”, family member and friend, with his family, at visitation from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Sharpsburg, 820 Main St, Sharpsburg, PA 15215. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ The King Parish in Madonna of Jerusalem Church, 220 9th St, Sharpsburg, PA 15215, on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11 am.
