Maria Carmela (Napoli) Ferraro, 90, of Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 6, 2024.

Maria was born on April 3, 1934, in San Pietro in Guarano, Italy, and immigrated to the United States in 1966. She was a kind and loving Italian immigrant and a proud naturalized American citizen.

In Italy, Maria owned a home-based business where she lived with her husband Pietro and son Franco in Prato near Florence.  Upon arrival in the U.S., Maria worked at Papercraft Industries in Blawnox, PA, and for many years was a dedicated member of The Christian Mothers, a faith-based social and service organization. Maria loved to cook and was known for her homemade bread and delicious Italian meals made from ingredients from her small garden in Sharpsburg. She was featured in the 2021 documentary "il Messaggero," showcasing parts of her life's journey. Maria's kindness touched everyone in the Sharpsburg and surrounding communities. She was most proud of her family including her six grandchildren.

Maria is survived by her sons Franco, Peter L. (Lori), and Michael (Darla) Ferraro, grandchildren Rachael (Eric) Myers, Gabriella, Mia, Anthony, Dominic, and Bennett, sister Rachele (the late Salvatore Musolino) (Italy), brother Francesco Napoli (Ines) (Italy), sister-in-law Anna Marie Goncar (the late David Goncar) and brother-in-law Fernando (Georgie) Ferraro, as well as many nieces and nephews in the Pittsburgh area and Italy. Maria was preceded in death by her husband Pietro, her mother Iolanda Buccieri, her father Luigino Napoli, and her brother Pasquale Napoli.

Friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, June 14, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Sharpsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ The King Parish in Madonna of Jerusalem church on Saturday, June 15 at 10am.
