Michael Carricato passed away at home on December 28, 2023, at the age of 55, from complications related to multiple challenging medical diagnoses. He is predeceased by his loving parents Guy and Marie Carricato. Michael leaves behind a legacy of artistic inspiration and warmth.

He was raised in Etna PA, attended Shaler High School, and became an avid fan of all the cultural opportunities that Pittsburgh provides. Graduating from Point State Park College with a degree in Cinema Arts, Michael embarked on a journey that merged his love for film and storytelling. Beginning with contributions to Pittsburgh film and television productions and eventually leading into a career in the printing and publishing industry.

Over his lifetime, Michael wrote imaginative stories and screenplays showcasing his eye for detail and an interest in thought-provoking dialogue. He worked with Don Laird, serving as the Co-Editor and Co-Publisher of The Threshold magazine, an independently minded literary publication. In his role as Prepress Coordinator at Ditto, he utilized his technical and problem-solving skills to effectively help all the customers he interacted with. Michael remained engaged with the cinematic world throughout his life, demonstrating a breadth of knowledge spanning both blockbuster hits and independent films. He deeply enjoyed talking about the topic with anyone who shared the same interest.

His quick wit and infectious laughter endeared him to all who had the pleasure of his company. In his absence, Michael is fondly remembered as a creative spirit, professional writer, and above all, a cherished friend. His memories live on through the stories he shared and the laughter he inspired. Michael will be dearly missed but forever remembered by his close friends and family.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, March 23 at 10 AM at Christ The King Parish in Madonna of Jerusalem Church. The church is located at 201 9TH Street in Sharpsburg, Pa 15215. Memorial donations may be made to Madonna of Jerusalem Church. Arrangements entrusted to Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Sharpsburg.
