Pasquale "Joe" J. Mercurio

Age 89, formerly of Sharpsburg, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025.

Beloved husband of the late Laura E. Mercurio and preceded in death by son Robert "Bobby" Mercurio, daughter Maryann (Mercurio) Bailey, granddaughter Leona, his brother Giuseppe Mercurio, and his parents Saverio and Giuseppina Cardmone Mercurio. He is survived by son Michael (Karin) Mercurio, son Thomas (Amy) Mercurio. Also survived by his sister-in-law Suzann (the late Giuseppe), sister Connie Banichar (Albert), sister Ursula DiCarlo Svach (J. Joseph Svach), and brother Mario Mercurio (Josephine "Jan"), along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Joe immigrated to the United States in 1952 from Soveria Manelli, Calabria, Italy at the young age of 16. He built his life and family in Sharpsburg for many years. He worked as a painter for 60+ years and enjoyed watching boxing and football and working in his yard filled with many roses, peppers, and tomatoes. Above all, he loved and enjoyed his family and being together.

He will be missed by many people. Family and friends received Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Sharpsburg, 820 Main St., Sharpsburg, PA 15215. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 10:30 am, December 19, 2025, at Christ The King Parish in Madonna of Jerusalem Church, 220 9th St., Sharpsburg, PA 15215.
