Patricia A. Markelewicz

January 6, 1949 — March 13, 2025

Pittsburgh

Age 76, passed to the arms of God on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA after a nine-month battle with abdominal cancer. Death came peacefully as she made her final journey to the Father.

Born January 6, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Stanley (Barney) Markelewicz and Helen (Karlic) Markelewicz. Patricia is survived by her sister, Sister Mary Thaddeus Markelewicz, a member of the Felician Sisters of North America, Greensburg, PA.

Patricia will be remembered for her compassion, love for life and laughter, generosity of time, talent, treasure, and her kindness. She was a giving person who never counted the cost when it came to others.

Patty enjoyed her time working at MetLife, United Healthcare, and Highmark Insurance Companies. The many friends she made highlighted each day she worked. Her joy was found in the people she loved and cared about.

Patricia's greatest joy was found as she served the clients at the Food Pantry at Saint Vincent DePaul Society in Sharpsburg. Her desire to pay it forward for all the gifts she received in her life was seen in her smile as she reached out to those she served. She made a positive impact and touched many lives during her service at the pantry and will be greatly missed.

Patricia's family wishes to express their gratitude to the nursing staff on the 8th and 9th floors of West Penn Hospital and the AHN Hospice Staff, especially Karen and Meghan, who provided extraordinary compassionate care to Patricia. Gratitude is also expressed to all those who loved, visited, sent cards, prayed for, and supported Patty during her illness, most especially her dear friend Loretta Swierczynski.

Friends received Tuesday 2-8 pm at Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Sharpsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ The King Parish in Saint Mary Church on Wednesday at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Food Pantry- St. Vincent DePaul Society, svdppitt.org ........or to the Felician Sisters of North America, 1500 Woodcrest Avenue, Coraopolis, PA 15108
